At the heart of OVNV is our efforts to organize, mobilize and lead our members in critical social, cultural and political efforts in New Orleans. We help build community leaders who then use their power to further their interests. This cadre of leaders runs issues campaigns that create systemic change leading to self-determined Black and Brown communities in New Orleans.
We organize and train community members so that they can take action and create change. Our campaigns are built around actions that make the community’s voices heard. Action is the lifeblood of any movement!
Building Space For Our People
Change is driven by song and dance as much as it is by conversation and legislation. We work to create spaces for Black and Brown people to come together and remember our shared culture and language. We come together to celebrate our humanity and our history and to identify the issues that will drive our organizing efforts going forward.
Partner With Organizations To Seek Common Purpose
Through creating strong partnerships we work together to envision a new future for New Orleans. This includes creating coalitions of organizations, working to build system capacity, and collaborating with institutions, stakeholders, and policymakers.
