Fuerza Juvenil is a student fellowship dedicated to providing English learner, migrant, undocumented, Black and brown high school students with the tools they need to thrive through and after graduation. Fuerza Juvenil fellows will gain knowledge, build confidence, and create pathways to success.
FUERZA JUVENIL is open to any student enrolled in 9th-12th grade (or recent grad from last two years) in a New Orleans public school, AND identify as ONE of the following:
ENGLISH LEARNER
MIGRANT STUDENT
UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT
BLACK OR BROWN
A NEW FELLOWSHIP FOR STUDENTS
The program unfolds over the course of four phases led by experts in their field to share & discuss with the fellows:
CULTURE AND IDENTITY
CAREER PATHWAYS
ADVOCACY
MENTORSHIP
AND TO TOP IT OFF…
EACH FELLOW RECEIVES A $1000 STIPEND
for their time, effort, and commitment to themselves, their peers, and the community. All fellows will be given a mentor by a community partner who will provide resources and internship opportunities.
