Stay home except for essential needs

On Monday, March 16, Mayor LaToya Cantrell issued a proclamation limiting gatherings and closing certain establishments. The New Orleans Health Department issued further guidance on Friday, March 20 mandating residents to stay home except for essential needs.

  • Stay home except to get healthcare, food, supplies, or go to an essential job.
  • Personal recreation is allowed if you are not in a group.
  • Avoid close contact with others when leaving your home for essential activities.

Quarantine Tips of the Week

  • Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
  • Take care of your body.
  • Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
  • Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.
